Frequently Asked Questions
You may be new to headshots or have had one before, but aren't sure what makes us different. In either case, we hope to clarify some of the commonly asked questions that we receive in this section.
Q: I don't look good in photos. Can you do something about it?
A: Whenever we take the headshots of people, we study each person's face and angles to find his or her best side(s). In our experience, everyone has at least one. So yes, we can certainly do something about it.
Q: I've always hated photographers because I never seem to get a nice photo from them.
A: This is the reason why we analyze every angle of your face and body to get the best look from you before we capture the shot. We have a way of bringing out your natural smile or your confident projection in front of the camera.
Q: Can you make me 10 years younger using Photoshop?
A: We do use Photoshop, but only for retouching. There are ways of reducing double chins and wrinkles naturally and we employ these techniques during the shoot. Our philosophy is that when people see our photos of you, we want them be able to recognize you if they see you on the street.
Q: Photographers intimidate me. They seem to be in a world of their own. Are you one of them?
A: Based on the feedback we have received from both past and present clients, they find our personality candid and pleasing, and they find us easy to talk to. In a shoot, there is a photographer and a marketing person who puts on the hat of your customer. This way, the perspective of your potential customer is always represented.
Aside from that, we know what it feels like to be in your shoes as we do apply the techniques we use for our clients on ourselves!
Q: I don't know what to wear during the shoot. Can I count on you to help me?
A: Your clothes and accessories are a part of your personal brand. Before the shoot, we can discuss the type of clothes you should consider wearing. Alternatively, we have a partnership with an image consultant that you can avail, who can help you with the type of clothes and accessories that matches your personality.
Q: Why does it take so long to take a single headshot photo?
A: We are not the "stand over there and smile" photographer. We understand that most people take some time to warm up before the camera, and that tends to be the best time to get those natural smiles. We also need some time to determine your best angle.
Q: Can you show me the photos you have just taken of me?
A: Yes. In fact, we have a monitor where you can see the photos we have just taken in real time so that we can review what is working and what isn't.
Q: I don't know how to choose the image that is right for my website, LinkedIn, or other communication channel. Can you help me with that?
A: During the proofing, we ask the question: who is your customer? The answer to this question will govern the process in choosing the BEST image that represents you to your target customer. Our goal is to connect with the person you are reaching out to and hopefully, help you get more business in the process.
Q: Can I crop the image myself so that I can use it for social media?
A: The social media sized image is one of our options, and this is optimally cropped so that your head doesn’t look too big or too small in the thumbnail. You won't need to crop the images.
Q: How do we choose the images we like?
A: For the studio sessions, we will sit down with you and go through all the images that we have taken of you. From there we can pick a number of "keeper" images. We will put these "keeper" images juxtaposed to one another and deliberate on which is the best image.
Q: I don't have time to contact you during the day, are you able to discuss business matters outside normal business hours?
A: Most of our clients are busy during the normal working hours. That's why we make ourselves available after office hours via phone, email or social media.
