Betting on One's Self

To bet on one’s self is only possible if we know ourselves. As we started concentrating and specialising on headshots, we attracted skepticism. The first 5 years were really hard. We were experiencing some growth but always being undermined by lowball pricing and perhaps a market still needing more education on believable headshots.

Then the pandemic arrived in 2020. It seems whatever growth we had is now a distant memory. Many were pivoting. But as a friend told me a few years back during a tough time we had in business, “Bernie, bet on yourself.”

I’m glad I remembered her advice. We stuck to our identity, to what we do best, headshots that have passed through the sieve of a trained marketing eye.

Two years after the first NZ lockdown, we find ourselves doubling our business and going from strength to strength. We could not have done it without the trust of our clients, some of them have become personal friends. We thank God for the resolve in sticking to our guns and becoming bolder and stronger during the pandemic.

As we end this financial year, our hearts are filled with hope, humility, and gratitude. If we thrived during the height of the pandemic, we can only see growth and opportunity in the years to come provided we continue to bet on ourselves.
