Like many industries, the financial space is a multidimensional one. It caters to people with different socio-economic backgrounds thereby opening up diverse products and services. Our client is in the financial space with a specific product and customer in mind. Her customers are small businesses and self-employed trades people and so she wanted an approachable yet professional headshot photo for her LinkedIn profile photo. Below was her previous LinkedIn profile photo.
The expression in that previous photo was not bad. But the photo felt dated due to the colours within the image - the yellow background and the green top. As per our advice, clients bring several items of clothing to the shoot for choice. Some would kid us to say that they brought a suitcase with them to which we are totally comfortable with as it gave us options. So this client came to us with a few pieces of cardigans and blouses and wore this first one during the initial stages of the shoot.
Our eyes can be drawn to so many elements in an image. It can be colour (check out our blog on the effect of colour on headshots), accessories, hairstyle to name a few. These elements can complement the image or distract the viewer from the person on the photo. The hero in any headshot is the face and nothing else. It is the expression that engages the viewer. It is the one (and rightfully so) that makes a lasting impact on the viewer.
Note: We advise our clients that it pays to have their colours done, meaning, see an image consultant to see which colours suit them. It is worth the investment and will simplify shopping decisions in the future (hopefully!)
